Florence – Il Pizzaiuolo

I had one thing in mind when we arrived in Florence – to have my favourite four cheese pizza at a local pizza joint. Needless to say, we were delighted to find pizza heaven in a little hole near the Sant’ Ambrosia market.

Il Pizzaiuolo is a brilliant pizza parlor specialized in Naples-style pizza. Naples-style pizza are baked in a wood-burning oven and are easily recognisable by their high border crust and thin center. I always wish that we get such pizza in Singapore but sadly most authentic Italian restaurant do the skinny pizza thing more often than not.

We arrived around noon and were told by the staff to come back at 12:30pm. When we got there around 12:30pm, two tables were already seated. Our pizza arrived within 10 minutes after we placed our order and the cheese was still sizzling when the plate arrived. BIG LOVE. While digging into our pizza, we overheard that Beyonce and Jay-Z recently patronised this popular joint to taste the real Neapolitan pizza too 🙂
